Organ and Tissue Donation (Deemed Consent) Bill: Clause-by-clause Consideration
The Chairperson (Mr Gildernew): Do any members wish to declare an interest? I declare an interest in that, at an early stage of the Bill's progress, I met Máirtín Mac Gabhann and Dáithí Mac Gabhann's family about their activism on the subject. Do any other members wish to declare an interest? No. Thank you. I will proceed through the clauses and put each of the Questions formally. If there is not consensus on a Question, I will ask members to vote by a show of hands, and the Clerk will confirm the result of each vote.
Question, That the Committee is content with clause 1, put and agreed to.
[Inaudible owing to poor sound quality.]
The Chairperson (Mr Gildernew): Do we know who is speaking? Do you want to come in, Colin?
Mr McGrath: I was struggling to get in.
The Chairperson (Mr Gildernew): That is OK, Colin. We are just moving through the clause-by-clause consideration of the Organ and Tissue Donation Bill. We will now move to the second clause.
Question, That the Committee is content with clause 2, put and agreed to.
Question, That the Committee is content with the long title, put and agreed to.
The Chairperson (Mr Gildernew): That completes our formal clause-by-clause consideration. The draft Committee report will be forwarded to members for their consideration. I thank members for all the work that they have done on the Bill. I thank the Committee staff and everyone who provided evidence to the Committee on this important area of legislation.
