Unpaid National Insurance Contributions for Private Vets

Unpaid National Insurance Contributions for Private Vets
That this Assembly notes that the Department of Agriculture and Rural has been ordered by HM Revenue and Customs to pay over £2.1m in National Insurance backdated contributions for private vets who have been undertaking bovine tuberculosis testing on farms; expresses concern at the Department's significant oversight; and recognises that this cost must not be passed to local farmers and farm businesses; accepts the Department relies too heavily on the services of private vets; and calls on the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development to detail how she is going to fund this unexpected pressure.
