To ask the Minister for Regional Development to detail the number of miles cycled in 2012 compared with 2011, broken down by constituency.

Answer:

The Travel Survey for Northern Ireland (TSNI) contains information on the average distance travelled per person per year by bicycle, however, information is not broken down to constituency level.

For all TSNI analysis, as the sample size is relatively small, 3 years of data need to be combined to ensure that the analysis carried out is robust.

Currently available information is provided in Table 1 of the Headline Report (2010-2012) and Table 3.5 of the In-depth Report (2009-2011) both of which can be found at:
