To ask the Minister of the Environment, pursuant to AQW 37924/11-15, on what date his Department issued warning letters to the operators of the unauthorised sand extraction taking place from the bed of Lough Neagh Special Protection Area; and what assurances he can give that this unregulated activity has now ceased.

Answer:

My officials issued letters between 25 September and 10 October 2014.

Inspections of the Lough Neagh area are currently being arranged. These inspections will observe whether operations have ceased.
