Question:
To ask the Minister for Infrastructure what plans she has to address the backlog of repairs in relation to the maintenance and fixing of broken streetlights in West Belfast.

Answer:

I have inherited severe budgetary challenges and resources are not currently available to my Department to provide a full street lighting repair service. As a result, outages are taking longer than usual to be repaired. I can assure the member that priority is being given to hazardous electrical defects and group outages and that my officials are doing all that they can, within available budgets, to complete other repairs in as timely a fashion as possible. I understand this is an issue of concern for the public and I am committed to working to find solutions
