Question:
To ask the Minister of Health how much of his departmental budget has been needed for administering or preparing for the implementation of the Protocol on Ireland/Northern Ireland regulations in realtion to health; and how many departmental staff are involved in this work.

Answer:

The Department has an EU exit transition unit which currently consists of nine staff covering issues relating to EU exit and the Northern Ireland (NI) Protocol. Since 2019/20, the costs associated with the preparations for EU exit and the implementation of the NI Protocol has been approximately £2.2m including the EU exit transition unit staff costs.
