‘war in Gaza that has left thousands of people dead; further condemns the actions of Hamas on October 7th which left 1,300 people dead and many families searching for loved ones; abhors the killing of international humanitarian aid workers seeking to deliver vital supplies to the civilian population on the brink of famine; rejects plans for a ground assault on the city of Rafah with a refugee population of more than 1 million Palestinians sheltering with nowhere safe to go; regrets the failure of the international community to act decisively in the interests of peace; affirms its support for a two-state solution; calls for an immediate sustainable ceasefire in the region and the release of all hostages; further calls on neighbouring countries to deescalate their military posturing allowing for meaningful space to be created in order to deliver a lasting long term solution for the whole region’ |

‘regrets the loss of all life since October 7 and before; recognises that the recent violence is rooted in 75 years of ethnic cleansing, denial of rights, and open genocide against the Palestinian people; agrees that the onus of implementing a ceasefire lies with Israel and the US; expresses disgust at the level of collective punishment inflicted on the people of Gaza by Israel; rejects plans for a ground assault on the city of Rafah; commends the mass movement that has erupted across Ireland against the violence in recent months; affirms its support for the boycott, divestment and the sanctions campaign, for the expulsion of Israeli ambassadors from Britain and Ireland, and for Israel to be held accountable by international bodies for war crimes and genocide; recognises the Assembly’s support for Palestinian liberation, the right of the Palestinian people to national self-determination, and the right of Palestinian refugees to return to homes lost during the Nakba; recognises that Israel has continued to encroach on Palestinian territory, destroy Palestinian homes, and build illegal settlements since the signing of the Oslo Accords; agrees that Israel is an apartheid state which must be isolated on the international stage in the manner that apartheid South Africa was treated; calls for an end to arms sales and trade with Israel; and further calls on the First Minister and deputy First Minister to write jointly to the UK Prime Minister in pursuit of these objectives.’
