‘and the operation of petroleum and oil refineries; notes with deep concern the granting of planning permission for an oil refinery at Cloghan Point, Whitehead; calls on the Minister for Infrastructure to intervene and assess the planning application in light of the environmental problems a refinery would create; and further calls on the Minister for the Economy, as an important first step in moving away from fossil fuel dependency, to introduce a ban on petroleum licensing, drilling, and extraction.’

‘believes that any application for fossil fuel extraction, distribution and storage should be assessed against our climate change targets as set out in the Climate Change (Northern Ireland) Act 2022 and the Assembly’s declaration of a climate emergency in February 2020;’
