20/05/2024 | Remove all after ‘health system in Northern Ireland’ and insert:
‘accepts that making junior doctor pay comparisons across the UK is misleading given the variable contracts in place which, in the instance of junior doctors locally, equates to lower basic rates of pay but higher additional payments such as banding allowances; welcomes the decision of the Minister of Health to deliver, in full, the recommendations of the independent Review Body on Doctors’ and Dentists’ Remuneration and deliver an above inflation average pay increase of 9.07 per cent for junior doctors, with those in their first year receiving a 10.68 per cent uplift; notes that the broader junior doctor dispute, in which they are seeking an uplift in pay of over 30 per cent, is largely a national dispute that will be resolved at a national level; notes that committing towards full pay restoration would see junior doctors receive far greater increases in pay than other HSC and public sector colleagues; further recognises the decision of junior doctors to stage two further 48-hour walk outs in the coming days will cause serious disruption to patient care at a time of already significant and prolonged stress on services; and calls on the Minister of Health to continue to engage with the British Medical Association regarding junior doctor pay, including taking account of agreements reached elsewhere.’

15/05/2024 | After ‘last resort;’ insert:
‘and supports the strike action by junior doctors as a means of delivering on their pay demands;’
