‘recognises that this failure is not a result of a particular technical matter but has been caused by successive Executives’ failure to break with the economic strategy advanced by the Treasury, including refusing to endorse higher rates of corporate taxes; further recognises that the Executive has repeatedly been a willing partner in implementing the economic programme of British governments; and calls on the Executive to embark on a new economic strategy that doesn’t repeat the same mistakes of the past with a focus on tackling wealth inequality as a matter of urgency.'

| 14/01/2026 | Leave out all after ‘caused by’ and insert:
‘a flawed system of government created by the Belfast Agreement, which entrenches division, incentivises veto and paralysis, and requires the participation of parties opposed to the continued existence of Northern Ireland; believes that the Executive model has demonstrably failed to deliver effective government; and calls on the Secretary of State to move towards a form of devolution which retains the Northern Ireland Assembly’s legislative and scrutiny functions, removes the mandatory coalition Executive, and provides for governance in which decision-making is subject to rigorous Assembly oversight, thereby maximising local democratic accountability while ensuring stable and effective administration.’
