Question:
To ask the Minister of Finance whether work has commenced on the proposed Strategic Infrastructure Plan.

Answer:

The publication of a comprehensive and costed long-term infrastructure plan was a condition of the financial package that accompanied the restoration of the Executive. This will sit alongside the Sustainability Plan which also formed part of the financial package.

Following engagement between officials in my department and counterparts in Treasury, more detail on the structure and contents of both Plans were included within the interim Fiscal Framework that was agreed on the 21 May. This also set a timescale for delivery of the documents.

I have established a Budget Sustainability team within my Department to lead on the development of this work and initial discussions have taken place with the Strategic Investment Board to understand how the work that has been carried out to date by the body in developing the draft Investment Strategy can be used to inform the production of a Strategic Infrastructure Plan.
