To ask the Minister of Health, Social Services and Public Safety what is the predicted time-scale for the placement of a Consultant Neurologist Multiple Sclerosis Specialist in the Northern Health and Social Care Trust.

Answer:

The Northern Health and Social Care Trust (NHSCT) provides a generalist neurology service for patients with a range of neurological conditions including MS, Epilepsy and Parkinson’s diseases. A second NHSCT neurology generalist consultant has been funded by the commissioner and the Trust is actively seeking appointment to this post. The timeframe for appointment is dependent on the availability of a suitable neurologist.
