Question:
To ask the Minister of Enterprise, Trade and Investment how her Department is supporting employment creation in East Londonderry, through means other than Invest NI support; and to detail the number of jobs created over the last five years as a result.
Answer:
The Department supports a number of schemes which have the potential to promote economic development and employment creation. Detailed research would be required to put an estimate on the full job creation potential and it would not be possible to identify specific numbers of jobs created in any one constituency under all the schemes. However, since 1 April 2012, Tourism Northern Ireland has supported 2 tourism projects in the East Londonderry Constituency which have resulted in job creation: In 2012/13 Tourism NI supported the West Bay Portrush Environmental Improvement Scheme through the Tourism Development Scheme (TDS) and the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) 2007 – 2013. 1 construction job was created and 26 construction jobs were sustained as a result of this support. In 2013/14 Tourism NI supported the Benone Tourist Complex through the Tourism Development Scheme (TDS) and The European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) 2007 – 2013. 39 construction jobs were created; 7 tourism jobs created and 2 tourism jobs sustained as a result of this support.
