Question: To ask the Minister of the Environment whether his Department has assessed the number of non-licenced car parks in the environs of Belfast International Airport.
Answer:
I am advised that the member is referring to ‘unauthorised’ car parks in the environs of Belfast International Airport. Prior to 1 April 2015 my Department was actively involved in taking enforcement action against a number of these alleged unauthorised car parks in the vicinity of the airport. The majority of Planning functions, including most planning applications and enforcement cases, transferred to the new councils on 1 April 2015. Any planning application or enforcement investigation in the environs referred to in the question is now the responsibility of Antrim & Newtownabbey Borough Council. You may therefore wish to contact the Council regarding the matters raised. The point of contact for Antrim & Newtownabbey Borough Council is John Linden who can be emailed at planning@antrimandnewtownabbey.gov.uk
