Question:
To ask the Minister of Health, Social Services and Public Safety to detail all circumstances which would be considered by an Independent Funding Request Panel as demonstrating exceptional reasons, and result in a successful outcome for an Individual Funding Request application.

The criteria used for the consideration of an Individual Funding Request (IFR) application can be found in the Health and Social Care Board’s (HSCB) policy document at the following link http://www.hscbusiness.hscni.net/pdf/Protocol_ECR_and__IFR_arrangements.pdf

The IFR panel meets weekly and normally requests are considered and a response provided to the referring clinician within 7 days of the request being received. The most recent information regarding the number of appeals against unsuccessful IFR applications is not held centrally.
