Question:
To ask the Minister for Employment and Learning to detail what communication his Department has had with Ulster University, Coleraine, regarding a time scale for staff redundancies due to the closure of the Modern Languages School.

Answer:

I have had ongoing discussions with Ulster University in relation to the possible implications of the budget reductions to the higher education sector, including the closure of the School of Modern Languages.

However, while my Department provides funding and sets the strategic direction for the higher education sector, universities are autonomous and responsible for their own staffing levels and potential redundancies.
