Question:
To ask the Minister for Employment and Learning for his assessment of the impact of closing the Modern Language School at Ulster University Coleraine on students beginning their studies in 2015/2016, if staff redundancies are to begin before the completion of their degrees.

Answer:
The University has confirmed that it is in the process of developing a detailed plan to ensure that students beginning their studies in Modern Languages in 2015/2016 will continue to avail of the learning opportunities provided to other current students. This will include:
The continued delivery and assessment of modules as per the current course documentation;
Appropriate arrangements for course management and study advice;
Continued international partnerships to facilitate study or placement abroad during the intercalary year;
Native speaker presence; and
Appropriate library and media provision.
This will continue until students in the last cohort of Modern Languages programmes complete their degrees in 2019.
