Question:
To ask the Minister for Regional Development whether her Department intends to procure new trains for the Enterprise service in the near future.

Answer:

£12 million of European funding, through the Special European Union Programme Body, is being invested in the current Enterprise refurbishment programme. This project is to completely overhaul and refurbish all 28 coaches.

The first refurbished train was launched on Monday 16 November 2015 and work on the remaining sets is expected to be completed by February 2016.

There are no plans to procure new trains for the Enterprise service in the near future. This would require agreement between Irish Rail and NI Rail.
