To ask the Minister for Regional Development, pursuant to AQW 51495/11-16, for an update on the repair of street lights in the Causeway Coast and Glens area.

Answer:

I can confirm that my Department’s measured term contractor for the repair of street lighting in Northern Division completed a full cycle of repair in the Causeway Coast and Glens area in the five weeks up to the end of December 2015. This area takes in the old Limavady, Coleraine, Ballymoney and Moyle council areas. The backlog of repair for defective lighting in this Council area is now complete.

I am also pleased to advise that the public can now assist us by reporting failures on NI Direct-Report a street light fault http://www.nidirect.gov.uk/street-lighting-and-reporting-a-fault or by telephone on 0300 200 7891.
