Question:
To ask the Minister of Health, Social Services and Public Safety whether he will provide an option for parents to purchase the Meningitis B vaccine on private prescription, but have it administered by their Health Service GP or practice nurse.

Answer:
It is up to individual Practices to decide if they will write a private prescription and administer the Men B vaccine privately. Contractually it is not possible for Practices to charge for the prescription or the administration of the vaccine to a patient who is registered with the practice.
I do not propose to make any changes to the current arrangements operating in individual Practices in relation to the private administration of the Men B vaccine.
