Question:
To ask the Minister for Communities for an update on the disposal of the residual land within the Village Urban Renewal Area, Belfast to a property developer.

Answer:

The Housing Executive in March agreed to the conditional leasehold sale of the Village residual lands on the open market for the development of affordable homes. It is envisaged the land will be developed for residential use in line with the ‘Village Regeneration Masterplan’ providing a minimum of 60 homes and not more than 90.

The Housing Executive is currently working with Land and Property Services to develop a marketing plan to sell the site on the open market. The purchaser will be expected to comply with a number of conditions including the completion of development within five years. It is anticipated this marketing plan will be completed shortly and the site placed on the open market before the end of June.
