Question:
To ask the Minister of Justice whether there are any plans to make domestic violence and domestic abuse specific criminal offences.

Answer:

As the member will be aware my Department launched a public consultation on the introduction of a domestic abuse offence and a domestic violence disclosure scheme in Northern Ireland. Officials are currently analysing the responses received.

Naturally I will wish to consider carefully the views expressed through the consultation prior to engaging with the Justice Committee on the proposed way forward.
