Question:
To ask the Minister for Infrastructure to outline the environmental impact study for the proposal to build a compressed air energy storage plant in Islandmagee.

Answer:

A planning application accompanied by an Environmental Statement for a Compressed Air Energy Storage (CAES) project was received on 23 December 2015. Following consideration of the proposal, the Department requested Further Environmental Information. This was received on 4 October 2016 and will be subject to the requirements of Regulation 20 of The Planning (Environmental Impact Assessment) Regulations (NI) 2015 in terms of consultations and advertisements.

This information will assist officials when making a recommendation on the application for my consideration.
