Question:
To ask the Minister for Infrastructure whether she has plans to introduce an MOT exemption for Vehicles of Historical Interest, as in Great Britain, in order to remove them from the MOT waiting list.

Answer:

I am aware that this exemption was introduced in Great Britain in 2018 which has led to a difference as to how Vehicles of Historic Interest (VHIs) are treated in GB and NI.

I am also aware that following interest from both elected representatives and members of the public that my Department ran a public consultation exercise in 2019 seeking views as to whether this exemption should be considered here.

This is an issue which I wish to examine carefully, and will consider the consultation responses before I decide how best to proceed.
