Question:
To ask the Minister of Education for his assessment of the viability of extending the Education Support Fund to include adopted children.

Answer:

The Department of Education and Department of Health are currently in the final stages of developing a joint Looked after Children Strategy entitled, ‘A Life Deserved: ‘Caring’ for Children and Young People in Northern Ireland’.

One of the proposed commitments to action under the Learning and Achieve outcome, is to review the effectiveness of looked after children-targeted funding, currently provided through the Common Funding Formula and, if effective, consider extending it to other groups.
