Question: To ask the Minister of Health what steps have been taken towards a pilot supervised injecting facility, as part of a strategy on preventing suicide and drug-related deaths.
Answer:
Supervised Injecting Facilities are not currently legal under the UK-wide Misuse of Drugs Act 1971, therefore no steps have been taken towards piloting such a facility in Northern Ireland. I am aware of discussions around this issue in both Scotland and the Republic of Ireland and I will watch developments closely.
