Question:
To ask the Minister for the Economy to outline the timetable for the conclusion of an updated skills strategy.

Answer:

We intend to launch a new Skills Strategy for Northern Ireland in December 2020, subject to Executive agreement. It will set the strategic framework for skills development for the next 10 years, aligning to the outcomes envisaged in the Programme for Government. Full public consultation will commence in June.

In response to feedback from stakeholders in business, and in the context of a rapidly changing labour market, the Strategy will be supported by short, medium and long term implementation plans. This approach will ensure a more responsive, agile approach to skills development, matching the changing needs of our economy and society.
