To ask the Minister of Justice whether she has remit to suspend insolvency actions as an Executive response to COVID-19.

Answer:

The management and listing of court cases is the responsibility of the NI Judiciary under the direction of the Lord Chief Justice (LCJ).

In light of the CORONAVIRUS (COVID – 19) pandemic, the Bankruptcy and Companies Master has issued a direction regarding the listing and conduct of insolvency business. More information can be found at https://judiciaryni.uk/.

I welcome the Master’s direction which is appropriate and proportionate in the current circumstances.
