To ask the Minister for Infrastructure whether she intends to bring forward proposals to end permitted development rights for all fossil fuels including lignite.

Answer:

While I am bringing forward legislation to remove permitted development rights for petroleum (oil and gas) exploration, I have also asked officials to brief me on the operation of the minerals exploration permitted development regime for the remaining fossil fuels, including lignite. This will allow me to consider whether I wish to bring forward any further changes to permitted development rights for mineral exploration.
