Question: To ask the Minister of Health for an update on the roll-out of the flu vaccine to clinically vulnerable people under the age of 65 and their carers.
Answer:
Due to high levels of demand for the flu vaccine this year, some GP practices used all their stock early in the season and had to wait until further supplies arrived into Northern Ireland in order to continue vaccination their eligible patients. These additional vaccine supplies, which were ordered in the summer, were delivered in mid-November. A total of 231,000 vaccine doses have been distributed to GPs practices for vaccinating those in the under 65 year old “at risk” groups and their carers. As at 1st December, GP practices had administered 179,000 vaccine doses to clinical risk patients and their carers.
