Question: To ask the Minister of Education for an update on Fresh Start funding for Forge Integrated Primary School.
Answer:
The Fresh Start Agreement (FSA) set out a commitment by the UK Government to release up to £500m over ten years of new capital funding to support shared and integrated education, subject to individual projects being agreed between the Executive and the UK Government. A major capital project for Forge Integrated Primary School to be funded from the Fresh Start Agreement was announced by the Secretary of State in March 2016. This project will provide a new 14 class school building and associated facilities. The business case for the project was approved by the Department of Finance (DoF) in February 2018. In December 2019 the Education Authority (EA) successfully completed the appointment of an Integrated Consultant Team to carry out the design of the proposed Forge Integrated Primary School. The Integrated Consultant Team is now working on the early stages of the design process.
