Question: To ask the Minister for Infrastructure whether she will bring forward regulations to ensure all parking bays that claim to be accessible must meet the criteria and standards defined in the Disabled Parking Accreditation as designed by Disabled Motoring UK and managed by the British Parking Association.
Answer:
Disabled Motoring UK introduced the Disabled Parking Accreditation (DPA) to recognise off-street parking facilities which are accessible to disabled people. The vast majority of public off-street car parks are managed by Councils. My Department has no current plans to introduce regulation to require compliance with this third party accreditation scheme.
