Question:
To ask the Minister of Health what action his Department is taking on ensuring services are available to people with binge eating disorder, which is excluded from the 2016 Care Pathway for Eating Disorders.

Answer:

My Department endorsed the NICE CG69 for implementation after the 2016 Care Pathway was developed and this includes recommendations for the treatment of Binge Eating Disorder.

Options for improving eating disorder service provision across Northern Ireland have been examined by the HSC Board through the Regional Eating Disorders Network Group. I recently gave approval for the inclusion of the future eating disorder service policy direction in the final Mental Health Strategy 2021 – 31, which I expect to publish in the summer.
