To ask the Minister for Infrastructure, pursuant to AQW 13558/17-22, whether student nurses will be included as part of the relevant employers element which will be engaged with to identify new key workers to be prioritised for (i) practical; and (ii) theory driving tests.

Answer:

My answer to AQW 13558/17-22 confirmed that the Driver and Vehicle Agency (DVA) is actively liaising with the Department of Health, to consider the facilitation of priority requests if they are identified by employers, from key workers whose jobs are ancillary to medical, health or social care services and who are required to drive for the purposes of their work.

It will be for the relevant employer to determine whether student nurses fall within this priority group and if they do so, the DVA will of course endeavour to facilitate priority appointments for both theory and practical driving tests.
