Question:
To ask the Minister of Finance to detail his plans for support packages to furloughed workers when the current furlough scheme ends on 30 April 2021.

Answer:

The furlough is a Treasury scheme and the Chancellor announced in the 2021/22 Budget that it is being extended until the end of September.

While this is welcome, my Department has raised concerns with Treasury that asking employers, who may not be fully operational, to find the cash for wage contributions that will increase significantly from July, could lead to redundancies.
