Question: To ask the Minister of Health when he or the Chief Nursing Officer last met the Patient Client Council Care Home Families Working Group to establish why a number of care homes have not yet adopted care partners.
Answer:
The Chief Nursing Officer and the Chief Social Work Officer held a joint meeting with the Patient Client Council, Care Home Residents and family representatives on 13 January 2021 to discuss issues raised in the PCC ‘Care Homes Engagement Report’ and address immediate operational issues, including that only a quarter of Care Homes were implementing Care Partner arrangements. As of 8 March 2021, the percentage of care homes implementing Care Partner arrangements had increased to 53%, reflecting our health and social care system’s commitment to the scheme, and Trusts, PHA, RQIA and my Department are working with providers to increase this further.
