Question: To ask the Minister of Health, pursuant to AQW 15396/17-22, (i) whether dentists or the British Dental Association were consulted about their needs prior to the purchase and delivery of personal protection equipment (PPE) that was deemed unusable by dentists; and (ii) to detail the cost of this PPE.
Answer:
In relation to the first part of your question, neither I nor my officials are aware of claims that the level 1 PPE purchased and delivered to General Dental Practitioners in Northern Ireland in July 2020 was unusable. However, I would be grateful to receive any further information in regard to this matter if you are able to provide it. The cost of the level 1 PPE that was delivered to Northern Ireland dental practices in July 2020 was £915,960.22
