Question:
To ask the Minister of Health what powers he has to include particular groups for priority vaccinations.

Answer:
The member will be aware that the vaccination programme in Northern Ireland follows the guidance on priority groups given by JCVI.
JCVI have advised the best option for preventing mortality in the initial phase of the programme is to directly protect persons most at risk of morbidity and mortality. As these risks increase exponentially with age, JCVI conclude the optimal strategy is to offer vaccination to older age groups having first protected residents and staff in care homes and health and social care systems.
