Question:
To ask the Minister of Justice (i) for her assessment of police numbers in the Causeway Coast and Glens area; and (ii) to detail what conversations she has had with the Chief Constable regarding this issue.

Answer:

Decisions relating to the deployment of police officers, including to the Causeway Coast and Glens area, are ultimately an operational matter for the Chief Constable of the PSNI, who is accountable to the Northern Ireland Policing Board (NIPB). I have not spoken with the Chief Constable specifically about police officer numbers in the Causeway Coast and Glens area.

I am committed to respecting the operational independence of the Chief Constable and the role of the NIPB.
