To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs whether he intends to carry out a review on legal penalties for causing wildfires at protected sites.

Answer:

I have no immediate plans to carry out a review on legal penalties for causing wildfires at protected sites, however I will be writing to Minister Long on this matter.

The Northern Ireland Strategic Wildfire Group will be considering the need to review legislation pertaining to wildfires and will make recommendations in this regard in due course.
