Question: To ask the Minister of Health whether there are any plans to offer the vaccine to people in the 12-16 age group and specifically to those who are clinically extremely vulnerable, such as those with serious lung conditions.
Answer:
Throughout the planning and rollout of the Northern Ireland Covid-19 Vaccination Programme we have been guided by JCVI. On the issue of vaccinating those aged 12 and over, we would again be guided by JCVI. At this point in the vaccination programme, JCVI have not recommended the vaccination of children. In addition, the two vaccines currently available are not authorised for use with children although MHRA do keep this position under review.
