Question: To ask the Minister for Communities to detail (i) whether funding for the JobStart scheme is ring-fenced in this year’s budget; (ii) the total anticipated cost of the scheme; and (iii) when the first workers are expected to commence employment.
Answer:
My Department was allocated £20 million of ring-fenced Covid-19 funding for the JobStart Scheme in 2021/22. The total anticipated cost of the Scheme is £24.584 million, spanning the financial years 2021/22 and 2022/23. This was detailed in the Outline Business Case which was approved by the Department of Finance in November 2020. The first young people were appointed to jobs via the JobStart Scheme in May 2021.
