Question:
To ask the Minister for Communities which statutory body has primary responsibility for safeguarding the former Tynan and Caledon Railway Station B1 Listed Building in Tynan Reference HB15/11/020.

Answer:

Principal responsibility for maintaining a building rests with the owner of the building; this building is in private ownership.

District Councils have powers under the Planning Act (NI) 2011 to require works to a listed building where it appears to the Council that such works are urgently necessary for the preservation of the building.

My Department operates the Historic Environment Fund which includes a repair stream for listing buildings. Applications are open until 21 June 2021.
