Question:
To ask the Minister of Education to outline the legal role held by Governors of Controlled schools in relation to the employees of the Education Authority, including any teaching staff.

Answer:
The Education Authority is the Employing Authority of teachers and other staff employed in controlled schools.  Certain employer functions are delegated to the Board of Governors of controlled schools under the relevant provisions of the Education (NI) Order 1998, such as specific responsibilities relating to the determination of staff complement; grievances; disciplinary; suspension and dismissal.
