To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs what discussions he has had with his counterparts in the Irish Government in relation to addressing the illegal cross-border puppy trade.

Answer:

I have not had any formal discussions with the Irish Government on this matter. I do, however, take the illegal movement of dogs and puppies very seriously and my officials liaise regularly with their Irish counterparts on this and other animal welfare matters.
