Question:
To ask the Minister for Infrastructure whether she plans to update legislation to require drivers of vehicles to report accidents involving cats or dogs.

Answer:
Article 175 of the Road Traffic (Northern Ireland) Order 1981 places a statutory obligation on drivers to report accidents that result in injury to another person, to an animal, or damage to property. For the purposes of this provision, an animal is defined as meaning “…any horse, cattle, ass, mule, hinny, sheep, pig, goat or dog”. There are no plans to amend this provision at this point in time.
