Question:
To ask the Minister of Health to outline the occupancy rate of care homes as of 1 June (i) 2021; (ii) 2020; and (iii) 2019.

Answer:

The Department does not hold this information centrally and it was requested from the Regulation and Quality Improvement Authority (RQIA). The RQIA were only able to provide information for 30 June 2021, and advised that based on the most recent daily submitted return for each operational care home, the percentage occupancy rate as of 30 June 2021 is 80% (number of occupied beds per total number of beds). Figures are not available for comparable position during 2019 and 2020.
