Question: To ask the Minister of Education to detail (i) the advice given to child and youth organisations planning overnight stays (a) indoors; and (b) outdoors in tents; (ii) the rules on sharing bedrooms and tents; and whether these rules facilitate such overnight group stays.
Answer:
The Education Authority (EA) does not give advice to children and young people’s youth organisations regarding overnight stays. Within the voluntary and community sector it is the responsibility of each management committee to decide on the provision made by their own organisational staff. The EA is however responsible for the delivery of youth services and to assist in the safe reopening of provision has produced comprehensive information and guidance including specific guidance on residential and overnight stays which can be accessed via the following link - Youth-Restart-Addendum-Residential-Overnight-Stay-Guidance-1.pdf (youthonline.org.uk).
