Question:
To ask the Minister of Health for an update on the timescale for a Tobacco Strategy.

Answer:
The current Northern Ireland Tobacco Strategy remains extant and is not due to expire until February 2022. Progression of the recommendations highlighted by the 2020 mid-term review remains the priority for the remaining term of the strategy. Given the pressures of the emergency response to COVID-19, it has not been possible to give consideration to a successor strategy as yet. The Department will hopefully be in a position to consider the future strategic direction in relation to tobacco control in the very near future.
