Question:
To ask the Minister of Health for an update on plans to refurbish the Duke of Connaught Unit at the Musgrave Park Hospital site as a daycase surgery unit for orthopaedics commissioning work, as planned for completion by the end of summer 2021.

Answer:

Belfast Trust is currently completing refurbishment work within the Duke of Connaught Unit at the Musgrave Park Hospital site which will provide a daycase surgery theatre for orthopaedics.

The refurbishment work is expected to be completed by the end of the summer and, following commission of the theatre, it is expected to be in operation from early autumn 2021. This will however be dependent on staff availability and COVID-19 related pressures during this period.
